The Resistance Against Portugal:
In 1483, the Portuguese arrived in Angola and started to become more and more involved in trade in Angola. Along with this, they also became increasingly involved in the African slave trade. Several Angolan kingdoms resisted the Portuguese when they began entering the land to seize control, but those kingdoms were eventually destroyed. In the end, the Portuguese had moved in and established control over Angola.
After slave trade had been abolished, internal slavery was being continued in Angola. When the Portuguese sought to expand their power, wanting to create a new system with forced labor and taxation, they were again confronted by a heavy amount of local resistance against their desires.
